It is a non-profit organization with a mission of amplifying the voice of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) community. There are many supporting businesses and foundations partnering with GLAAD such as Gill Foundation, Acus Foundation and Wells Fargo Bank. The organization takes upon itself to serve as a watchdog over the media in order to defend the positive public image of the true LGBT as real people.

GLAAD’s current Chair person is Sheri Fults who has been the Chair for GLAAD organization for two years. She is a literary manager who represents the upcoming writers and film/TV directors. With a background of corporation communication and Liberal Arts degree from University of Texas, Sheri serves GLAAD with her strong leadership.

Over the years, there have been many cruelties, remarks and hostile damages against the LGBT community. Main stream society promotes more negative reports, news and movies to discriminate against LGBT simply because of their sexual orientation. They have been called names, bullied, and even killed for being themselves. GLAAD works and strives to ensure that the LGBT is represented fairly in the media. Moreover, it works as a media outlet itself with online blogs, a news center, rewards events, endless story reporting and more.

Besides a strong technology and PR team, GLAAD also has a very massive supporter base. The organization has made more than $10,000,000 in fund raising in the year of 2010 and the financial resources attract elite staff to work for GLAAD. From Board members to volunteers, GLAAD stands out with sharp observations, truthful reporting and a strong work ethic that can change the world. GLAAD is a social reform advocate and makes a profound influence for the world.
